RECREATION

IN PLUMAS COUNTY

FISHING

Imagine that perfect morning on the lake: the early air is crisp, the sun has not yet cleared the peaks surrounding the mountain lake, and the water is mirror-still. The only sounds are the occasional birdcall and the lapping of water against the rocks. The peace of another Sierra Nevada day settles over you as you cast your line and wait.

There's no denying that Plumas County offers some of the most beautiful and peaceful fishing opportunities around, and with over 100 lakes and 1,000 miles of streams, there is no shortage of variety. Plumas County waters are home to Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Catfish, Bass and Mackinaw. Certain lakes are stocked each year; you can find a list of these lakes and stocking schedules at the Department of Fish & Game website.
